Casino War – The Prime Reason Why You Should Avoid the Game Like a Plague
May 25th
Casino war is one of the simplest casino games to play. The game originates from a card game played by kids called War. And like the rest of the less complex games, Casino War has a relatively high house edge.
The game is played in a purposely built table similar to Blackjack, and up to a seven players can play at a time. A standard six decks of card decks is used. Each card is ranked according to its numerical face value, the ace being the highest card and two is the lowest. The suit of the cards has no significance in the game.
The game goes this way. First the dealer deals one card to each player in a clockwise direction starting from the player in his left, and a card to himself. The cards dealt to the players are then compared to the dealer’s card, and whichever card has the highest value wins. For example, say you play in the game and you are dealt a nine and the dealer is dealt a Jack. So you lose the game. The dealer will take your bet and your card and a new deal starts again.
In case of Tie, that is, when both the player and the dealer is dealt a card with the same numerical value, the player has two options to make:
* The player may surrender his card, which means that he automatically loses half of his bet and a new deal starts again.
* The player may “go to war”, which means that the player must place an additional bet equal to his original bet, and a card will be dealt to both the player and the dealer hand.
When a player goes to war, the dealer first burns three cards before he deals a card to both the player and the dealer hand. If the player’s card is ranked higher than or the same as the dealer’s, then the player wins an amount equal to the size of the original bet. If the dealer’s card is ranked higher than the player’s, the player loses both the original bet and the “going to war” bet. For example, say you bet one unit in your hand and you “go to war”. So you have to put up another one unit bet. You have now two units of bet in the table. If you win, you win only one unit, but if you lose, you lose two units.
A lot of gamblers are asking where the casino gets its advantage in Casino War. While it is true that the players’ winning chance is 50% since the winning bet is paid 1 is to 1, but the 1 is to 1 payoff becomes untrue in case of a tie. The truth is it is in Tie where the casino gets its edge. Remember that in Tie, the player either surrenders, or “go to war”. When a player surrenders, he automatically loses half of his bet, which gives the casino close to 4% edge on the bet, and when a player goes to war, he only wins one unit in his two unit bet. Overall, the house edge in Casino War is close to 3%, making it one of the casino’s sucker games, and like the rest of the sucker games, Casino War should also be avoided.

Things You Should Know About Casino Gambling
Aug 11th
Casino Gambling involves a lot of risks and require sheer amount of luck if you want to succeed. Besides luck you should also have certain knowledge on how to play and how to utilise your money well. In Earlier days, gambling was considered as illegal but now since it has become legal more and more people are interested in casino gambling. Gambling in Casinos means you can earn some quick money as well as lose them in no time. It all depends on the tricks of playing and how much luck you carry. Casino Gambling involves a lot of risks so before we put our money we should make sure that this is the best betting place where there is less risk of losing money.
Also a new trend of casino gambling through online has been started and many people are finding it better and safe than the casino gambling. There are many risks involved in casino gambling and one such major issue is the security of your money. You have to carry a large sum of money to the casinos and this can be quite risky in terms of thefts. Also at most of the casinos they take certain information from you such your residential address, name, mobile number or even credit card number. Giving such valuable information to unknown people can be quite risky and always there is a risk of this information getting circulated among the people.
But most of the casino owners make their customers feel secure as they have installed video cameras which see to it that no theft or any suspicious thing happen in the casino. Also they have hired personal security people who will make sure that you are safe in that place. With the help of such hi- tech securities they can easily check for any mischief in their casinos.
When you ask a professional casino gambler about what are things you should consider before putting your money into the play in any particular casinos. They would recommend you about two things. Firstly they will ask you to check the rules of playing games in that particular casino. Different casinos have their own rules and this should be first observed by the customer. Then secondly they should check out the house edge. House edge determines the winning chances for the casino owners in terms of percentage. If you a particular casino are having greater house edge, it means that you have a very less chances of winning. So opt for the casinos having a lesser house edge so that you can win more than the casino owners.
Before filling up any forms for the online casino gambling make sure that you don’t end up giving any vital information of yours which could cause any trouble for you in future.

Casino Poker Chips – 6 Things You Should Know
Aug 5th
#1 – Casino Poker Chips Come In Three Types Only
There are several different materials that are used to make poker chips. However, the three main manufacturers that design Las Vegas casino poker chips use only three different types. They are all approximately 1-1/2 inches in diameter, but the weight varies; mainly due to composite, design, and how intense the dyes are.
#2 – Clay Chips Aren’t Used – Clay Composite and Ceramic Are Popular
Most visitors to Las Vegas and Atlantic City are surprised to find that clay chips aren’t used. Introduced in the late nineteenth century, the clay chips broke easily. Instead it is a clay composite, that contains mostly high impact and very durable polymers. Ceramic chips are also becoming quite popular.
#3 – Designs and Colors Are Casino-Specific
The designs and colors are specific to the casino they represent, but the variance in weight will stay very close to ten grams. You might ask what is so special about ceramic chips. For one thing, it is a solid body, rather than the combined chip with an inlay that is used so traditionally by casinos. They are substantially stronger and more durable, impossible to tamper with, and very difficult if not impossible to counterfeit.
#4 – Flamingo Casino in Las Vegas – First To Use Clay Composite Die Cut Metal Foil Chips
Clay composite chips, with a design in die cut metal foil, was used when the Flamingo Casino opened. However, the casino poker chips changed in the 50’s to chips with logos, and house designs, plus some sort of strip or spot on the edges, to identify the casino in which they were being used. Some chips today are metal and coin-like, with plastic outer edges. Today, all casino chips are unique and identifiable to the house they belong in, copyrighted and secure.
#5 – Lots of Choices For Casino Chips For Home Play
People who are looking for chip sets for home play have more choices. There are composite metal core chips, that are extremely durable. Basically they are made up of a metal slug surrounded by plastic. They can be individualized by decal or hot stamp, and feel and look very much like the Vegas chips.
Most of them are manufactured in Taiwan, and the quality is not always consistent. Request a sample from the seller before you buy them. The Chinese chips often are lower in quality than those of Taiwan, probably because they have poorer quality control methods. The prices are quite similar.
#6 – Plastic Chips Are An Inexpensive Alternative Good For Home Play
If you are just exploring your interest in poker and don’t want to make an expensive investment as yet, plastic chips are the answer for you. You can get them almost anywhere, from cheap ones in the toy aisle of discount stores to heavier, more substantial chips that weigh up to seven grams.
They are easily damaged, lighter than regulation casino poker chips, and not very easy to stack. If you are looking to invest in true quality, and price is no object, check into simply taking home chips from the casino you play in and using them at home. They can always be returned next time you visit, and they won’t deflate in value.
Now that you know the various poker chip designs and makes, you should be able to make a more informed decision about which type of poker chip you want to buy.

Casino Gambling in Georgia – Should Casino Gambling Be Made Legal in Georgia?
Jul 28th
The State of Georgia is facing a budget shortfall for fiscal 2009 of over $2 Billion. And states do not have the luxury of running deficit spending, and printing up paper money to cover the shortfall. State budgets must be balanced each year. So, Georgia needs to give serious consideration to a new revenue stream.
State Rep. Roger Bruce (D-Atlanta) has announced his intention to introduce a bill in the 2009 legislative session to allow voters to decide if they want gaming in Georgia. His bill would allow voters of each Georgia county to decide whether or not they wanted gaming in their county. The Georgia Assembly and recent governors have been cool to the idea of casinos in Georgia. But the legislature has never allowed any gaming proposal to be voted on in a general referendum or any other popular vote.
The big question is: Should gambling be made legal in the state of Georgia?
Answer Number One: In a free society, individuals are free to use their income and assets whichever way they choose. There should be no moral, ethical, or even Biblical sanction against gambling. Some people believe that gambling is a sin, but a sin should not be made illegal when it does not initiate force or fraud against another individual. Said another way, if I use my money to gamble with, it’s my business.
Answer Number Two: The State legislators have already settled any moral trepidations they may have ever had over gambling. It is already legal here in Georgia in one form. Fifteen years ago, lottery gambling became legal in Georgia, and to date, has generated over $15 Billion in tax revenue. Sales for fiscal year 2008 climbed to a record-breaking $3.5 billion, exceeding the revenue generated during fiscal year 2007. So, the State of Georgia has already been in the gaming business for over 15 years. Casino gambling is simply another form of gambling. However, with casino gambling, the state will not have the monopoly, but private enterprise will own and operate the casinos.
With a 15-year history of successful gaming under its belt, it is going to be pretty hard for the Georgia General Assembly to refuse casino gambling without exhibiting massive hypocrisy. But massive hypocrisy has not stopped them in the past.
But, what about other states where gaming is legal? What has their experience been?
To find out, I went to the website of the American Gaming Association in Washington, DC.
In Nevada, the granddaddy of them all, where gaming began in 1931, tax revenues from gaming have been a large part of the state budget. In 2006, Nevada gaming had 201,000 employees and tax revenues were $1.034 Billion. Nevada’s budget for 2009 is set at $6 Billion, so gaming revenue comprises about 17% of that state’s total income each year.
Mississippi legalized gaming in 1990, passed by legislation and local option vote. There are 30,500 gaming employees, and tax revenue for 2006 was $350.44 Million.
Louisiana legalized gambling in 1993, passed by legislation and local option vote. Tax revenue last year was $559 million, another $68 million from racetrack casinos, with 20,300 gaming employees.
Michigan legalized gambling in 1996 by statewide referendum, local option vote and legislation. Michigan has 3 casinos that generated 2006 tax revenue of $365 million.
So we see here that other states have long histories of success with casino gambling.
Casino gambling would be a welcome addition to the convention business in Atlanta and other Georgia cities. Las Vegas has been stealing away convention business for years now with their gaming and entertainment attractions. The Georgia hospitality and restaurant industries would also get an infusion of business as they support gaming tourism.
Atlanta has another competitive advantage as a gaming destination…Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, the busiest airport in the world. It’s been said that you can’t even get to heaven without connecting through Atlanta. Our presence as a Southern regional transportation hub makes Atlanta an easy gaming destination for the two thirds of the population of the US that lives east of the Mississippi River.
Casino gambling can be a valuable addition to the economy of Georgia. I hope that the Georgia General Assembly can find its courage and conscience and votes in favor of casino gambling in the 2009 Legislative Session.

The WSOP – 5 Reasons Why You Should See it in Person
Jul 17th
Yes, I know what you’re thinking, I see you working out there. Right about now, your very first question HAS to be, “Stevens, you’re a casino party rental company – WHY in the heck are you continually blogging about the WSOP?
Well, actually there are TWO reasons that we’re writing all about the 2010 World Series Of Poker; Reason number one, the WSOP continually raids our poker dealer team roster for qualified dealers for the “Tourney to end all tourneys,” which means that a lot of our team is missing for approximately one month, and reason number two, as far as we’re concerned, the WSOP is the ultimate poker experience, ESPECIALLY for those of you that either love to play poker, and/or love to watch the ESPN tape/delayed telecasts of some of the WSOP events, including the $10K Main Event.
Now, before we pontificate any further, there’s something that NEEDS to be said at this point if you fit into either of the prior fan bases mentioned.
The WSOP is an event that you HAVE to see in person. It’s a MUST attend. Why, you ask? Ahhh, friends, I’m glad that you asked that question, because your suggested request leads me into the main reason for this week’s blog submission.
Without further fanfare, here are our top 5 reasons that the WSOP MUST be seen in person to be appreciated…
#1 — Access to your favorite poker players
If you’re sitting at home and watching the ESPN broadcasts as religiously as WE are and have developed your personal list of “favorite players,” the WSOP is for YOU. Anyone that finally gets off their duff and actually goes to attend the WSOP for the first time is always shocked and surprised at the overall size of the event. Once the shock wears off, suddenly, you’ll realize something else — The place is CRAWLING with ALL of the players that you’ve seen on TV for years.
They’re all OVER the place. From inside the Amazon Room (where most of the tourneys are held) to the Miranda Room (the 2010 food court), up and down the hallways, and inside most of the hospitality suites, the place is LOADED with poker players. Most times, depending on the individual and the moment in time that you see him/her, the players are more than happy to pose for pictures, sign autographs, talk poker, whatever. There’s just something about seeing the players “in their natural habitat,” which the WSOP is, in no uncertain terms. If there’s someone that you’d just LOVE to meet or talk to, here’s your chance, America. Ya gotta go.
#2 — Being a part of the action at the WSOP
You know what? Besides the 50+ WSOP tournaments that are held every year at the Rio Suite Hotel in Las Vegas every summer, there are ALSO other poker-related activities happening each year at the WSOP. Not interested in ponying up the $1500+ to enter the tourney of your choice? No prob. There is one room in the Rio Poker Complex that is dedicated to what are called poker “satellites.”
For as little as $125, you can sit down at a poker table just like the ones in the Amazon Room, and play in a single-table sit-&-go satellite. I know more than a few players that just hang out in the satellite room, just taking their shot at winning an entry in a major WSOP event for a fraction of the cost.
Not into playing in tourneys at all? Two words; CASH GAMES. The Rio’s version of the WSOP has just what you’re looking for, cash games at all levels, just like your home card casino. Not into playing poker during your visit to the WSOP? Try out the shopping venues. The Rio is MORE than obliging in THIS particular area of the WSOP marketing arm. You can buy anything from t-shirts to chips, hats, souvenirs, you name it. If you’re looking for it, the WSOP makes it.
#3 — “It’s VEGAS, baby!”
I mean, come ON. Unless you’re Puritanically retro-fitted and want very little if ANYTHING to do with the WSOP, Las Vegas IS ‘THE’ vacation destination of the summer! Where else can you take a ride to the top of the ‘Eiffel Tower,’ water-ski on a beautiful lake, visit the Pinball Machine Hall Of Fame, and watch Phil Hellmuth melt down at a WSOP tournament poker table, ALL IN THE SAME DAY? Ya GOTTA come, it’s VEGAS!
#4 — There’s a rumor going around that Vegas has legalized gambling
Hey, I know it’s just a rumor, but if it’s true, and you CAN actually bet on sports, the ponies, the dice, the cards. Boy, that’s a GREAT lil’ perk to throw in, on top of the action at the Rio. Just sayin’, wow, I’ll have to check this out, I’ll get right back to you…. (Grin)
#5 — You’ll get the chance to actually sit in the ESPN Poker “Stadium,” and watch a WSOP “Final Table” in action
You’ve seen the ESPN Poker Arena on TV. Imagine sitting right in the stadium that surrounds the Final Table Of The Day inside the Amazon Room, and watching someone win one of the coveted WSOP bracelets. Yeah, I know you’ll have a crappy viewing angle to see anything, and the overhead monitors and unintelligible commentary given by the tournament director of the day doesn’t tell you much — It’s the WSOP, my friends. Ya GOTTA sit in their at least once, and check out the action, such as it is. Watch out for the “Photo Nazi’s,” though. No flash photography is allowed inside the Amazon Room. (Yeah, like THAT stops anyone.)
Well, there you have it, my friends. Bottom line? It’s Vegas, it’s the WSOP, and it’s a BLAST. We’ll see you in the “Poker Stadium.” Might as well see you THERE, because we sure won’t be able to see what’s goin’ on at the final table….. (Grin)
