The popular casino game known as “roulette” is one of the most popular games found in these establishments. It can be very fun to play, but the different set of rules can be a little challenging at the beginning. Basically it consists of a round wheel mounted on a table, divided in 37 or 38 pockets with numbers, colored with red or black, and a little red ball bouncing around.

The croupier, that is, the person in charge of operating the roulette, lets the wheel spin in one direction, pushing it to start it spinning and let a ball spin in the contrary direction. As the wheel starts losing momentum, so happens with the little ball until it falls inside of the numbered pockets, thus setting the winning number for that particular game.

The difference between the number of pockets depends on the place the roulette is located. In Europe, the “French” variation has 37 different pockets, contrary to the “American” counterpart, which has 38, that is, one pocket extra with the “Double Cero” pocket. The two models also differ in the sequence of the numbers, being these for the American: 0-28-9-26-30-11-7-20-32-17-5-22-34-15-3-24-36-13-1-00-27-10-25-29-12-8-19-31-18-6-21-33-16-4-23-35-14-2 and for the European version a totally different one: 0-32-15-19-4-21-2-25-17-34-6-27-13-36-11-30-8-23-10-5-24-16-33-1-20-14-31-9-22-18-29-7-28-12-35-3-26

On the table where the wheel is placed, there is a board where the bets are placed. It contains all the numbers found on the wheel, plus some other possible bets, such as “odd” for odd numbers, “even”, first third, for numbers from 1 to 12, second third with the next 12 digits up to 24 and third third, with the last 12 numbers; Black, Red, first third vertical, second third vertical, third third vertical, etc. Are among the other possible places where the player can set a bet and hope the ball falls, after its final spin, inside one of the chosen squares.
